We followed our annual tradition of embarking on a coastal road trip to Kokan and chose Devgad as our destination. We followed below itinerary, along with suggested accommodation options.

Day 1: Drive Pune – Village Nirvana.

Our day started quite early (5am) as we had a long drive ahead. After a scenic drive through winding roads of Anuskura ghat and verdant countryside, we finally arrived at our AirBnB destination. Which was – Village Nirvana, located in the quaint Naringre village near Tambaldeg beach. As we checked into our cozy accommodation, the serenity of the surroundings instantly captivated us .

We kicked off our exploration by visiting the Gajba Devi temple. The temple provides 270-degree view of the Mithbhav coast. The peaceful ambiance was perfect for some moments of introspection and quiet reflection.

Next, we made our way to Mithbav beach, a pristine stretch of golden sands dotted with swaying palm trees. The turquoise blue waters of the Arabian Sea gently lapped at the shore, creating a soothing symphony of waves. We soaked in the beauty of the landscape, taking leisurely walks along the shore. There is a beautiful MTDC resort at this property but for some reason it was not operational.

One of the highlights of our day was visiting the Tambaldeg beach peninsula, where the river Naringre meets the sea. The sight of the river merging with the vast ocean was a mesmerizing spectacle. We walked along the pristine sands, enjoying the soft sea breeze, and watched as the river flowed into the sea, creating a harmonious confluence of nature’s elements.

Day 2: Coastal road from Kunkeshwar to Devgad

We started our day with a delicious breakfast of ghavane, a local delicacy made of rice flour, coconut, and spices, which left our taste buds tingling with delight. Energized, we set out to explore more of the surrounding attractions.

Kunkeshwar temple

We visited the revered Kunkeshwar temple, a 400-year-old shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, perched atop a hill overlooking the Arabian Sea. The temple is located on the coast with pristine beach.

I totally recommend the drive from Kunkeshwar to Devgad through Taramumbri and Mithmumbri coasts. Its magnificent coastal drive with sea and Windmills on one side throughout.

We then visited the Devgad windmill garden, a unique attraction where we could witness towering wind turbines harnessing the power of the wind to generate renewable energy. Our adventurous companions, Vishal and Aarav, couldn’t resist the opportunity to try zip-lining amidst the beautiful landscape. They soared high above the verdant hills, enjoying the thrill of the adventure and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

Zip-linning at Devgad beach

Next, we headed to Talashil beach, a hidden gem known for its untouched beauty and solitude. Soft sands and turquoise blue waters characterized the secluded and pristine beach. We spent hours listening to the sound of waves crashing against the shore, and indulging in some beachcombing, collecting seashells as souvenirs.

One of the highlights of our day was visiting the confluence point of river Gad with the sea. The sight of the river flowing into the sea was mesmerising. We sat by the riverbank, enjoying the serene views and reflecting on the wonders of nature.

Day 3: Drive to the coastal fort of Vijaydurga and Kasheli beach

As we bid farewell to Village Nirvana and its surrounding attractions, we carried cherished memories of our serene retreat with us. With a heart full of gratitude and a mind filled with memories, we embarked on our journey further to Ganpatipule, carrying the essence of Village Nirvana with us, a place that truly lived up to its name – a blissful haven nestled in the lap of nature. We began our day with a visit to the Ganesh temple, which was a part of our stay property in Village Nirvana. The temple was a serene abode, with beautiful idols of Lord Ganesha, the Hindu elephant god, and the ambiance filled us with a sense of peace.

We embarked on a journey to Vijaydurg fort, a historic marvel known for its impressive architecture and strategic significance. Perched atop a hill, the fort provides panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding landscape. We explored the fort, marveling at its massive walls, bastions, and gateways that stood as a testimony to its glorious past.

Kanakaditya temple and Vijaydurga fort

From the fort, we made our way to the beautiful Kanakaditya temple, also known as the sun temple, dedicated to the Sun God. Adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures, the temple stood as a marvel. The spiritual ambiance of the temple mesmerized us.

Afterward, we visited Devghali beach, also known as Kasheli beach. Golden sands and clear blue waters adorned the secluded and pristine beach. The beach has stairs leading down to an observation deck and then further down to the beach. The waves here were very high. The views from the deck are spectacular. A huge cave on the beach also houses the believed discovery of the idol of Kanakaditya.

Post lunch we started on our journey to Malgund, Ganpatipule, where we stayed another day and then drove back to Pune.
